State Auditor Hector Balderas has ordered an expanded audit of the Central Consolidated School District in San Juan County. Balderas says concerns from the community and findings from a previous audit prompted the extensive investigation, which will look for fraud, waste, or abuse in the district’s accounting books. The district’s expired land leases with the Navajo Nation, as well as the district’s financial reports and alleged mismanagement will all be reviewed, Balderas said.
